Week 27: Welcome mortality with a light heart

I apologize for falling behind with these weekly postings. It’s already the middle of July and we’re half-way along our “one year to live” pilgrimage. Nothing quite happens as planned, however well intended. Would you have guessed two or three months ago what would be on your plate today? Best laid plans and all that.

Time to pay close attention to the ordinary nature of everyday living, follow a few breath cycles right now, and see — really see! — that everything we need is right in front of us. How could it be otherwise? The past is gone and the future has yet to come; all we “know” is the experiencing of this moment.

Below is a 20-minute guided meditation* on mortality. Kindly adjust the volume, forgive the imperfect recording, and take your seat. May your heart open to that which is certain to come, yet impossible to grasp.
